Meet Xiao Rong, a gentle and patient Guqin teacher with a teaching style that ensures all her students have a solid foundation and grasp of basic skills.
Huang Xiao Rong, in 2012, studied the Guqin under the guidance of Chen Yutao, Li Cheng, and Ma Weiheng, and received careful instruction from Gong Yi and Li Fengyun. She has performed together with renowned Guqin players such as Ma Weiheng, Li Fengyun, and Jin Wei. She showcased and played a segment of the Guqin piece “Flowing Water”《流水》 on China Central Television (CCTV). She has also performed the ancient qin at venues like the Chongqing Grand Theatre in China and the Welsh Museum in the United Kingdom.
Huang Xiao Rong has published academic papers such as “The Naming of Ancient Qins” 《古琴命名考》, “Study of Guqin Master Reverent Zhu Chan” 《一代琴僧竹禅考》, “Study of Yi Gu Ren” 《琴曲忆故人解析》 in academic journals like 人民音乐 in China. She has authored the popular book “Easy Guqin Learning Guqin for Kids” 《古琴新声一一让孩子轻松读懂古琴》 and the compilation of masterful Guqin performances titled “Phoenix’s Cry for a Thousand Years”《千年凤鸣》which has been officially published in China.
She has given numerous lectures and appreciation events on the Guqin at various government institutions, companies, and schools for civil servants, employees, and students, including students at the Southwest University of Political Science and Law in China. She has also planned, organized, and directed more than ten large-scale Guqin concerts.
