Meet Celeste Tan, a passionate and bubbly Guzheng teacher who brings energy, warmth, and enthusiasm to every lesson. Her vibrant personality creates a fun and interactive learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore their musical potential while building a strong foundation in Guzheng playing.
Celeste believes that every student learns differently. As such, she carefully tailors her lessons to suit each individual’s learning style, goals, and pace. Whether a student is taking their very first steps in music or working towards advanced repertoire and examinations, Celeste ensures that lessons remain engaging, effective, and rewarding.
Her Guzheng journey began during her primary and secondary school years as a member of her school’s Guzheng Ensemble. What started as a co-curricular activity soon blossomed into a lifelong passion for Chinese music. Motivated to deepen her understanding and mastery of the instrument, she pursued formal Guzheng grading examinations and continuously refined her skills through dedicated training.
Adding a special chapter to her musical journey, Celeste was once a student at Eight Tones Music School herself. Having experienced the school’s nurturing environment firsthand, she now proudly returns as a teacher, inspiring the next generation of Guzheng players. She obtained her Certificate in Professional Performance in 2024 and began her teaching career in 2023, bringing both technical expertise and genuine care to her students.
Over the years, Celeste has successfully guided numerous students through Guzheng grading examinations, helping them achieve excellent results and build confidence in their musical abilities. She has also mentored students preparing for performances, equipping them with the skills, performance techniques, and musical knowledge required to showcase their talents effectively.
Beyond examinations and achievements, Celeste’s greatest joy comes from seeing her students grow and develop a genuine appreciation for music. She believes that learning an instrument should be both educational and enjoyable, and she strives to create lessons that inspire creativity, discipline, and a lifelong love for music.
