Tay Pheck Huay is a seasoned Guzheng performer and teacher, with almost thirty years of performance experience and twenty years of teaching experience under her belt. She has successfully nurtured numerous solo students to a high level of mastery, as well as led many guzheng ensembles to numerous awards and accolades.
As a teacher, she has worked with students of all skill levels, from absolute beginners to those who have attained the Performer’s Diploma from the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM) in Beijing. In addition to her private teaching, the guzheng ensembles under her tutelage have achieved excellent results in national competitions, including the Gold award in two consecutive years at the Singapore East Zone Guzheng Performance Competition.
In addition to her work as a teacher, she is also a skilled performer, having held solo Guzheng recitals and performed with Chinese orchestras and various chamber ensembles. She has even taken the stage at events such as the River Ang Bao and the Singapore Arts Fringe Festival.
